Introduction to the Noctua NH-C14 CPU Cooler
When it comes to CPU cooling it doesn’t get much better than Noctua. In their six years of their existence the Austrian company has produced some remarkable CPU coolers. Notable ones like the NH-U12 have seen its time on many of the world’s best overclockers’ test benches. As time passed the U12 was put to pasture, where the duties were passed to the NH-D14, a dual 140mm fan carrying monster. This particular cooler is, by many people believed to be one of the best coolers on the market today.
Noctua have now recently released a new heatsink to the market that shows a lot of promise. Not to outdo the D14 for the performance crown, the C14 is meant to give the end user multiple ways to not just cool your CPU, but the components around it. Like the D14, the C14 also comes equipped with dual 140mm fans, the same SecuFirm2 mounting and six heatpipes, but that is where the comparisons stop. The C14 is a top flow design, versus the tower design of the older brother D14. Lets see if it still manages to share the incredible performance of of its predecessors...
Noctua’s take on the NH-C14
The NH-C14 brings top-flow cooling to a new level by offering an exquisite, uniquely flexible 140mm dual fan setup: The two supplied NF-P14 premium fans can be installed on top and underneath the fin-stack to configure the cooler for maximum performance in dual fan mode and either lower profile (105mm) or maximum component clearance in single fan modes. Bundled with the award-winning NT-H1 thermal compound and Noctua’s SecuFirm2™ multi-socket mounting system, the NH-C14 is a highly flexible, premium-class top-flow solution that further boosts the renowned quiet cooling performance of the much acclaimed NH-C12P series.
