SilverStone DS322 Compact USB 3.0 RAID Enclosure Review
Since April 7, 2010, I have been on a mission to make sure that I backup my data properly and securely. Just what type of data would cause a man to go on a mission of keeping his data safe? That would be the pictures and video of my twin daughters. With over 13 thousand pieces of media taken by my wife, myself and other family members... we cannot afford to lose them.
I have a couple of ways to keep the images of my precious little ones safe. I have a single hard drive that is stored away and occasionally used to backup newer photos. Then there is the copying the files to blu-ray which seems to take forever but well worth it.
There is even a third method I use which is quite quick and painless and that is copying everything immediately over to our household RAID NAS. For those that want an even faster method, you can abandon the network-attached drive and go to a faster transferring USB mounted enclosure.
This leads us to our latest review sample. We will be taking a look at SilverStone's newest USB 3.0 RAID enclosure called the SilverStone DS322. This is a step above the typical USB enclosure as it supports two drives and not only that; the drives can be configured using the two simplest forms of RAID which would be 0 and 1.
SilverStone’s Take on the DS322
SilverStone created a versatile RAID based storage product, the SilverStone DS322. It connects to a PC via 5Gbps SuperSpeed USB interface which enables data transfer with maximum compatibility and stability. The SilverStone DS322 is the best choice for storing your data quickly with SuperSpeed on RAID 0, or increase security with mirror mode on RAID 1.
